Monarchs

"The Monarchs of Wayne/Oakland are one of New Jersey's newest corps and are already rated in the top 10 in the state.
Organized in October of 1967 and re-organized and merged with the Wayne Cadets in October 1968, the Monarchs are moving ahead with tremendous speed and determination.
Under the able direction of C.R. "Skip" Fisher and Jack Taylor, the Monarchs have hired some of the foremost instructors on the East coast. Horn instructor, Ed Sudol, ably assisted by Jim Hunter, is teaching a completely new repertoire for 1969. Their OTL is a completely different version of "The Students March" from the "Student Prince".
The color pre is a patriotic medley of "It's A Grand Old Flag", "Over There", "It's A Long Way To Tipperary", "Yankee Doodle Dandy", (played in Dixieland) and "Give My Regards To Broadway". Their into concert of "Soulful Strut" is going to bring the house down. Out of concert is "All" with an exit of "Both Sides Now" to finish off the program. With a horn line of 36 experienced horns to work with, this exciting repertoire is guaranteed to be a hit in 1969.
George Tuthill, "Mr. Originality" himself, is handling the drums. This caption will be a strong point. At the present time, the Monarchs are practicing with 4 snares, 5 tenors, 3 rudimental and 2 straight basses (all tuned), a double bass hook up, a tympani tom-tom set-up (3 drums) and 4 cymbals.
Al Wright is handling the M&M and in line with the Monarchs desire to present a crowd pleasing show, is writing and teaching a G-E packed drill. Utilizing several different marching styles the Monarchs will be as exiting marching as they are playing.
The Monarchs plan to attend the World Open and V.F.W. Nationals. They are actively seeking appearances from Canada to Florida."
