I don't have much information for you on The Wilson Patriots Jr. Drum & Bugle Corps of Wilson North Carolina as it was a long time ago and I do not remember the names of those involved in the running of the corps. But, I did teach the drum line in their 1971 start up season, in preparation for what seemed to be their only field competitive season of 1972. I couldn't stay past 1971 as I was returning to my home town of Rochester N.Y. after my active duty time in the Marine Corps was complete.

At that time I lived in Landover, Maryland and was a member of the U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps of Washington D.C. Fellow Yankee Rebel and former USMC D&B Corps member John Muzzi was the drill writer and instructor as well. John was the person who actually invited me to teach the Wilson Patriot corps with him. John and I were both quite proud of the fact that we were able to get a relatively small, parent backed civic based organization off the ground and flying.

John and I drove from the Washington D.C. area very early on Saturday mornings and went all the way to Wilson N.C. to do weekend camps which consisted of an all day rehearsal on Saturday and half day on Sunday. The parent organization and corps administrators were very hospitable people who, upon us leaving to return home, were upset if you were to pass on their southern style hospitality. They made sure that we had a full four course dinner topped off with home made peach ice cream before we left for home. They even gave each of a container of that ice cream to take home with us. These were extremely nice people who did a lot for young kids through the Drum Corps medium for the sake of these young corps members.
