Golden Empire is an Open Class junior field competition corps based in Bakersfield, California.

The corps was founded in the Fall of 2013 at Bakersfield College to augment the existing Bakersfield College Drumline.

After recruiting and staffing was added, a musical programwas developed and auditions were held. Members of the new corps rehearsed throughout the Winter and Spring, then the corps held a training camp in the mountains at Lebec, California.

On May 21, 2014 DCI announced that Golden Empire was one of seven new or renewed corps approved to enter competition tat summer.

On June 20, Golden Empire made its competitive debut at Clovis, California. The 93-member corps (with 43 brass, 21 battery percussion, 10 front ensemble, 16 auxiliary/color guard, and 3 drum majors) placed 3rd in Open Class, behind Vanguard Cadets and Blue Devils B, both then three-time world champions in the class.

For its first season, Golden Empire scheduled only eight contests on four weekends in June and July, and the corps made appearances in Southern, Central, and Northern California. The corps has since limited itself to only about a dozen shows each season.

In 2018, the corps will travel to the Drum Corps International World Championships for the first time, maintaining its limited schedule, with a two week break between a series of regional shows and traveling to shows in Iowa and Illinois en route to DCI.
