The Miami Crusaders went to Cuba that in 1959 for the parade celebrating Veinte-Seis de Julio (July 26).(Castro's revolution was called the Veinte-Seis de Julio Movement.)
The corps was sponsored by the Dade County Sheriff's department, which received the invitation and hooked them up for the trip.

Paul Girard recalls "The parade was a mile long, but because of the enthusiasm of the crowd, we were not fatigued at the end and we were ready to do it again, if asked."
