The Saint George Olympians Drum and Bugle Corps was formed in 1958 under the sponsorship the St. George Greek Orthodox Church of Springfield, Massachusetts, and through the influence of Mike Kafantaris and Onastocios Kastrinakis. The corps colors were blue, white, and black with the guard dressed in “Evzone” Greek palace guard uniforms.

For 21 years the corps enjoyed an outstanding and honorable existence that that shared by more than 453 members. Their awards, highlighted achievements, and historical presentations were proud memories for all.

Saint George Olympians placed 11th in the 1966 World Open Championship. The corps moved on to Northeastern Junior Circuit where they became champions in the Class A competition as well as the winter guard. 1973 brought the corps to Drum Corps International membership when the Olympians tried for another spot in the CYO Nationals, World Open Championships and the US Open in the Midwest.

The Olympians sponsored the 1972, '73,and '74 Super Bowl of Music DCA Senior Corps International Championships at University of Massachusetts Alumni Stadium.
