CORPS Photos
Founded in 1967 as a color guard and expanded into a parade unit in 1971, this is th 11th competition season for the Vaqueros, who are looking forward to their first year as the musical ambassadors of the city of Wheaton,Illinois.
The Vaqueros are the only competitive drum corps in DuPage County,Illinois, and draw their members from over a dozen municipalities county-wide. In just 11 short years, the Vaqueros have won several state championships. The Vaqueros color guard annually takes top honors in winter competition, most recently becoming finalists in the Midwest Color Guard Circuit, the 1981 Open Class Color Guard Championships, and winning the 1980 musical repertoire features Carole Kings popular "Corazon" the smooth jazz sound of "Sun Catchers", Paul Simons hit single, "Late in the Evening."
The Vaqueros would like to express their appreciation to their sponsors, including Vern Kiebler Associates, American Legion T.H.B. Post 187, the Vaqueros Booster Club without whose support this would not be possible.
The Vaqueros Drum Major is Louis Goesda, and the Color Guard Captain is Michelle Ruby. The Percussion Instructor is Doug Lindt, the Brass Instructor is Denny Biagioli, the Program Coordinator is Ed Morrissey; and the Excecutive Director is Joe Courtney."
