The Stratford Vagabonds, formed in 1967 as a merger between the Connecticut Yankees (Stratford) and the Connecticut Vagabonds (Torrington), was based in Stratford, Connecticut.

The merger was not a smooth one. The corps had different philosophies, the music was a mix of the two corps' 1966 repertoires, even the uniforms were a merger, with the guard wearing Vagabond uniforms and the horn line wearing Yankee uniforms. Since both former corps' were members of the Northeast Circuit but only the Yankees were members of DCA, in Northeast Circuit contests they were called the Vagabond-Yankees, and in DCA they would be Yankee-Vagabonds.

After the 1967 season, it was clear that both corps needed to go their own ways.
