The Fire Flies were organized 2/11/1954 by the Paulsboro Volunteer Fire Company. The musical director was Bernard Lotstien. We played straight bugles. Later we switched to single valve bugles and a new musical director named Rip Bernert who was also associated with the Audubon Bon Bons. This was the start of Class B competition. We competed against the Vagabonds of Haddon Heights NJ, the Royaleers of Haddonfield NJ, the Bells of St. Mary's, Gloucester City, NJ, and the Sea Horses of Hammaton NJ. Our music included Rio Rita, This Is My Country, Sweet Mystery Of Life, and Smoke Gets In You Eyes. On Aug. 17, 1956 at Bader Field in Atlantic City, NJ we won the Championship for our circuit.

Sadly when the Fire House burnt to the ground all uniforms, trophies, flags, rifles, and instruments lost.

A group of mothers keep uniforms cleaned and pressed. They also marched with us at parades. They were known as the "Marching Moms".
