The Midwest Express Drum and Bugle Corps came into being in 1982, when the Nee Hi All Girl Drum and Bugle Corps began accepting male members. The unit completed that season as a parade corps, changing to its new name in September. It marched as a parade and field corps in the 1983, eventually competing at both D.C.M. and the V.F.W. competition in New Orleans. It also appeared in the TV series pilot “Hard Knox” starring actor Robert Conrad, though its music was dubbed over in the final production.

Internal tensions resulted in a loss of a lot of members, though they did return briefly as a parade unit in 1986, and eventually shut down completely in 1988.
