With an increasing membership each year the corps will field 100 members in 1978, ranging in age from 12-21 years. To compliment the horn line, percussion and banner sections the corps added a precision rifle squad in 1977. During the coming season the Midshipmen will host the "Fourth Annual Pageant of Drums" competition, which will include corps from Michigan,Ohio, Wisconsin, and Canada.

Originally organized by Carl O. Weaver Post 194 of the American Legion, the Midshipmen receive support and encouragement from the entire greater Petoskey area. During the 1975 season, the Midshipmen were selected to participate in the opening ceremonies at the International Special Olympics at Central Michigan University in Mt.
