In the mid-1960s a group of adults associated with the senior Ambassadors Drum & Bugle Corps of Newburgh, New York, decided to form a junior corps.
That junior group was initially known as the Ambassadors Junior Drum & Bugle Corps, but the name was soon changed to The Envoys.
