"In Oceanside, I find that the Legionaires are just as jubilant as their Ridgewood brethren. Organized as a parade corps on Oct 28, 1958, the long gray line joined the Nassau-Suffolk Association in 1961 and became a charter member of the Long Island Circuit in 1964. This season, the corps will field a smaller unit as a strategy move. The repertoire is arranged and instructed by Bob Bunce, the N.Y. bugle giant. "Little Me," is an appropriate entrance medley, followed by "Half The Battle" for color presentation. "I Love to Walk in the Rain" and "Circus Parade" from "Ben Hur" frame the concert of "The Overture from Tenderloin." The production number is "Hey Jude," and "The Sweetest Sounds" move the corps off the field. Ralph Parkhill instructs the fourteen-man drumline, and Harvey Husser directs the corps. The Legionaires, who are sponsored by Memorial Legion Post No. 1246, will host their annual competition August twenty-third."

One of the more unusual drum corps charts was performed by the 1969 and 1970 Oceanside Legionaires: "Overture from Tenderloin."
