The Saint Joseph's "Townsmen" of Amesbury, Ma. was created in Fall of 1952.

Frank Devaney Drums, Charlie De Angelis M/M and Al Sayre at the time the instructors were members of the Senior Corps "The Princemen" named after Lt. Norman Prince. Eventually George Meany took over the Drum Line

The Townsmen were a very active Drum Corps. We competed in the CYO Circuit and Eastern Mass Circuit. One of our highlights was competing at the Nationals which were Sponsored by The American Legion in New Jersey. We made elimination and competed in the building off the Boardwalk which then was also used for the Miss America Contest. The building was huge.

When ever we won a title contest and arrived late in the night we would get off the bus hook up and play with the Police Car in front leading us to St. Joseph's church.

We were a fast stepping corps and well respected. Many good memories.
