The Chessmen, formed in 1956, was a junior marching and maneuvering corps based in Easton, Pennsylvania. They were sponsored by the Easton Lt. Baker VFW Post 1290. The corps’ colors were red and white. In 1971 the uniform was a gold top with a red stripe over black pants. Awards included third place in the 1963 American Legion and VFW State Championships, 1971 VFW Pennsylvania State Champions, and championship of the Eastern States Junior Drum & Bugle Corps Circuit in 1971 and 1972. The Chessmen were active through 1976, after which they were rechristened Regency One. [Encyclopedia of Drum and Bugle Corps, 1966; DCW, 6/212/90, p.14; rec.arts.marching.drumcorps 8/20/98] |
